When are you going to settle down?你打算什么时候安顿下来？

1. Fish or cut bait! 要做就做，不做拉倒！做出抉择
从字面上理解，即“要么钓鱼，或把饵线剪掉”，也就是说，在两者中，做出抉择；要么全力以赴要么放弃。
Son, either go to college or go out and find yourself a job. It's time to fish or cut bait!
儿子，你要么去上大学，要么就出去找个工作。是做出决定的时候啦！

2. There are plenty of other fish in the sea.天涯何处无芳草。
字面上理解，就是海里的鱼有的是，即还有很多一样好的人或事物，还有很多其他的机会。当然，也可以是我们平时在别人分手时常安慰的一句话“天涯何处无芳草”。

3. have other/bigger fish to fry 另有他图；还有更重要的事情要做
与上面的一句想似，这里的fish当然不是仅仅指“鱼”，这个词组不仅仅有其字面的意思“还有其他的鱼要煎”，意味着“还有其他的/更重要的事情要做”。
Sorry, I have other fish to fry. So I couldn’t have dinner with you.
对不起，我有其他的事情，所以不能陪你吃饭。

4. fish in the air 缘木求鱼，水中捞月
鱼生活在水里，在空中捕鱼无异于在水中捞月，意味着“白费力气，徒劳”。

5. a big fish (in a small pond) 小庙里的大和尚
字面上理解，即为“小池塘里的大鱼”，象征着大人物，尤指小地方的要人。
