Moonlight Chapter1 October 7th, 2017 5:23 A.M. United States of America Los Angeles, California Taylor’s Home I never knew I could hold moonlight in my hands.
Curled up on in my brown chair in my backyard, in my pajamas with my flannel blanket covering me, I bring my mug up to my lips and take a sip of my hot coffee. I can see the steam coming from it as it grows closer to my lips in this cold morning, and this hot liquid gradually warms my tongue, my mouth, my throat, and my stomach as I feel it travel through my body. I sigh aloud and place the mug back in my lap, holding it carefully as if it could fall out of my hands with any slight movement I make. I shut my eyes for a brief moment, and it feels like my eyelids are slightly burning when I do so from the lack of sleep I’ve had this past week. But that comes with the career I’ve chosen for myself.
I watch as the sun begins to rise, as I enjoy doing from time to time. It brings me so much comfort—with the beauty it brings as the sky turns from dark blue, to a mix of purple, coral, and orange, until suddenly the sky is the bright blue that it is during the day. It reminds me of the many days I’ve watched the sun rise with my best friends—with Austin, Mom, and Dad—with those I’ve stayed with in the morning after a long evening—and by myself. It always reminds me of the good and bad times in my life—those ups and downs that can’t be helped.
I glance away briefly from the slowly rising sun to look at a particular tree, out of the so many I have here in my backyard. My eyes close halfway as I gaze as it, reminiscing when it came to be—when it all came to be.
