“Adam, what are you doing?” I ask, and I can’t help but give a light laugh. “Is that a tree you’re trying to plant—in my backyard?”
“Adam，你在干嘛啊？”我问道，忍不住向他灿烂地微笑了一下，“你是想在我家后院种棵树么？”

“Surprise!” He says, opening his arms up with such a huge smile. “I’m planting an olive tree for you, as my gift for what this lovely day marks for us.”
“Surprise！”他张开手臂，大咧咧的笑着“就像这可爱的一天为我们纪念的一样，我打算为你种下一颗橄榄树，作为我送给这一天的礼物。”

“It’s incredibly hard to remove olive trees—they’re able to withstand almost everything. They’re known to be tough, and can’t even die when it’s hot, if there’s a drought, and even if there’s a fire.”

Adam looks at me with that all-too-well-knowing smile. I see that glint in his eyes as he waits, knowing my reaction.

I bring my hands up to my face and cover my mouth. My eyes are brimming with tears and suddenly I feel one leave my right eye and fall off my cheekbone to the grass beneath my feet.
They say when you cry, if your first tear leaves from your right eye that means you’re crying from happiness.

“Oh, Adam,” I say, lowering my hands back down. I’m smiling so much my cheeks are burning, but it feels so wonderful, oh so wonderful. I suddenly close the distance between us and wrap my arms around his neck, his around my waist, and we hold onto each other tighter than we ever have before. And we stay like that, till he suddenly lifts me up with those strong arms of his. I wrap my legs around his waist, and his hands hold my bum up. We kiss, my head titled down to meet his lips, and I feel one last tear leave my right eye that slides down my cheek, and drips off my chin.
“Oh，Adam，”手从脸颊上滑落，我微笑着，感觉整个脸颊都在燃烧，但这感觉是如此的美妙，哦，如此的美妙啊。我不想和他之间有任何的距离存在，突然用手臂环住他的脖子，他的手臂则环住了我的腰，我们拥抱着彼此，比以往任何一次都要亲近，直到他突然用他强壮有力的手臂托起我，我则把我的腿缠绕在他的腰上，他的手托着我的臀部，我把头倾斜下来，来迎接他的唇，迎接我们的吻。我感觉到了最后一滴泪珠从我的右眼滑下，滴落。

I stay with him a few minutes longer after he lowers me down before running back inside and changing into other clothes. I throw on a white t-shirt, and I wear a black lace bralette under it, with small and loose jean shorts. I come out wearing my tennis shoes and put my mint blue gardening gloves on. I kneel down next to Adam and we work on finishing up planting this olive tree—this tree that represents my past, our relationship, and his commitment to me. We finish together.
