Facebook co-founders Mark Zuckerberg and Dustin Moskovitz have signed on to the Giving Pledge, a charity campaign led by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and financier Warren Buffett.
According to Forbes.com, the Facebook moguls are joining other celebrities and members of America’s wealthiest families in promising to give away half or more of their fortunes.
Zuckerberg and Moskovitz, along with 15 other new pledges, bring the number of Giving Pledge signatories to 57. Among the celebrities on that list George Lucas, director of the Star Wars film franchise, and data tycoon and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
“People wait until late in their career to give back. But why wait when there is so much to be done,” Zuckerberg said in a press release.
Mark Zuckerberg is estimated to be worth about $7 billion, while Dustin Moskovitz has a fortune of about $1.4 billion.
