About Izzy

Tracii: Izzy was the drummer in a band called The Babysitters. He wore adress, and I think somebody beat his ass, so he joined this band called Shire, which was a Scorpions kind of metal band. That's when I became friends with him[The Days of Wine and Roses, Classic Rock, April 2005]
Tracii (L.A. [The Days of Wine and Roses, Classic Rock, April 2005]

[Tales From The Stage, February 2013]

[Making ****ing videos, 1991?]

Tracii: Izzy and I were very systematicabout how we would play in the band together. It was really fun structuring theL.A. Guns and Hollywood Rose songs for two guitars. We'd spend a lot more timemaking two really different guitar parts and two different guitar sounds. Morethan anything it was an incredible experience. That's when I really learned howto play with another guy. Izzy's so talented - not like a real master and he'sdefinitely not a shredder - but he's just got a brilliant brain for music[Giving It Both Barrels: Dr Rock Takes On Tracii Guns Of The LA Guns , June2010]
把L.A. [Giving It Both Barrels: Dr Rock Takes On Tracii Guns Of The LA Guns, June 2010]

Tracii: [Izzy] was the silent controller[of early GN'R], and I was the vocal one. You know, it was like he'd say: Trace-- you know, I got this idea. You know, what do you think about this? And, youknow, blah blah blah. And I'd go: Well, you know, that's all right. But if wedo this, it might make it a little harder, or a little cooler [Spin Magazine,Outtakes from the Axl Rose Issue, 1999]
[Spin Magazine, Outtakes from the Axl Rose Issue, 1999]

Duff: In front of the hotel was a payphone. On evening, walking out with my belly filled with the meal of the day, Isaw a guy doing business on the phone - a guy dressed like Johnny Thunders.Taking a second glance, I recognized the guy. It was Izzy Stradlin. We had meta few weeks prior, when we both turned up at the same guy's place on the samenight. It could have been awkward, but we both shrugged it off and startedtalking about music. Izzy was into Thunders, Hanoi Rocks, Fear - the rough"street" acts I also preferred to the technical polish of metal. Hereminded me of some of the cooler figures I had known back home, and I ended upgiving him a ride to some other girl's house later that night. We exchangedphone numbers and that was it. Now here he was on my block.

It turned out Izzy had just moved in acrossthe street. I knew the alley behind Izzy's place was really bad - full ofhookers and drug dealers. Shit went down there all the time. What I didn't realizewas that Izzy's place was in the back of the building and that he sold heroinout his back window.

Izzy was pretty much strung out the wholetime. But he wasn't sloppy, not nodding out. He was a "maintenanceguy," meaning he did just enough heroin to stave off withdrawal. As we gotto know each other, for some reason I was able to look past his smack habit. Itpart it was because he handled him so well. IN part it was because we bondedover a mutual love of Johnny Thunders - alone in L.A., musical touchstones, itseemed, could trump something that months before in a different setting wouldlikely have snuffed out any budding friendship. In part it had to do with hisdrive and determination [Duff's autobiography, "It's So Easy", 2011,p 47-48]
[Duff's autobiography, "It's So Easy", 2011, p 47-48]
