Ghesquière who’s returning?
He’ll (maybe) be back. We hear whispers that Nicolas Ghesquière could be making a fashion return by launching his own design house. Rumor has it that a number of fashion companies, including Li & Fung, LVMH and Diesel, are courting Balenciaga’s former creative director. Diesel’s CEO Renzo Rosso is said to be eager to get him on-board. “Everyone is trying to get him,” said one insider. But we hear Ghesquière is holding out for a firm that can guarantee him an equity stake in his own label, something Diesel hasn’t offered. And he’s a man who appears to fight for what he wants. It’s reported that he left Balenciaga in November after becoming frustrated with owners PPR, who wanted a more commercial focus. Watch this space.
