Details of Severe Tropical Cyclone Courtney 27U at 8:00 pm AWST:
Intensity: category 3, sustained winds near the centre of 150 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 205 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 35 kilometres of 16.8 degrees South, 98.7 degrees East , 550 kilometres south southeast of Cocos (Keeling) Islands and 1040 kilometres southwest of Christmas Island .
Movement: west at 21 kilometres per hour .
Severe Tropical Cyclone Courtney is currently a category 3 system located over open waters in the Indian Ocean, well to the northwest of Western Australia. It will continue to move westwards and intensify further in coming days.
Tropical Cyclone Courtney will not impact the Western Australian coast, the Cocos (Keeling) Islands or Christmas Island.
