Pabuk (Japanese Typhoon Number 26) is located 448 km east of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and has tracked southwestward at 15 km/h (8 knots) over the past 6 hours. Maximum significant wave height is 3.7 meters (12 feet).
Pabuk is expected to continue tracking southwestward under the steering influence of the subtropical ridge to the west.
The unfavorable environment, mainly due to high wind shear, will lead to gradual decay and eventual dissipation in 24 hours, possibly sooner.
Forecast models are in good agreement with a gradual and even spread to a mere 157 km in 24 hours; however, due to the possibility of an early dissipation, there is only medium confidence to the JTWC track and intensity forecasts.
