Since everything has been back to normal, I need to pick up those things lifting things again. Worse still, I need to bring more than one bag of the Golden Trumpet seed daily to make up for those labors I have been absent. It’s ok for me. I guess.

While we watched the sunset with the tribe, we shared our epic experiences, including the magnificent landscapes we saw, the danger we faced, and the brilliant problem-solving capabilities we’d shown. We were surrounded by praise and admiration later. This was a so-called adventure indeed.

I decided to design a drainage system for the bird bath since the water changing problem has bothered us for a long time. Without my innovative design, we could only use the shells as bowls to bail the water out. Nevertheless, I found it hard to make just with those primitive tools. It’ll be much easier to process with human tools.

Why did Roberto always mess around with Jewel these days, especially when we were resting and showering at the pond? We just left for two weeks, after all!

I tried to talk to him, but he just threw out the facts of their relationships in childhood again. I told him that sometimes we need to look forward and… asked him why he doesn’t find another companion. Guess what? He said nothing in this world could ever be compared with Jewel. Ugh… What has gotten into him? Plus, it’s May now, and I wonder if it shouldn’t be the mating season for us Spix’s macaws?

What? They’ve already known my passwords! Just now, Tiago talked about the drainage of the bird bath to me inadvertently, but he soon noticed that something was wrong and stopped talking, and so did I.

After further inquiry, it astonished me that they crushed my password the second day after I informed them that they could read it whatever they wanted if they got the password. I was more than puzzled and asked them how. Tiago told me that there’d be miniature and specific feedback coming from the mechanical component when they switched the circle to the correct position (especially the low-end coded lock like this, he added). By operating this way just four times, it was unlocked.

Finally! I finally made up my lifting job today! I brought four bags of Brazil Nuts daily, and it’s finally done. After lifting one bag today, I completely immersed myself in leisure, lying beside the ponds and relaxing. I guess I’ll come to the reserve center tomorrow and bring some self-defense instruments in case the crises occur again.

I went to the reserve center in the morning to inform Fernando that several deliveries would be transported here tomorrow, which are the stuff we need for connecting and self-defense. I bought them online before going to bed last night, which caused Jewel’s disapproval, so I promised her I’d place them in the center as long as our delivery arrived. It’s so convenient that there are suppliers in Manaus. The money comes from the money management project provided by Linda, and I will charge all the profit (not that much, though).

All right, let’s take a look at what we got here. Three shock devices charged by batteries (they’ll perform well as the eagle strikes), five chili sprays (easy to take and easy to use), and five miniature communication devices charged by button cells (sticking beneath our ear holes and was covered by our feathers in the normal). I bought five for those because I thought Carla could use them after returning to the Amazon.

Later, I still could not convince Jewel to use them in daily life, so I could only store them in the sentry and the reserve center and only use them when we left for expeditions or emergencies. Fine, keeping it for backup was still better than nothing, right?

Today I figured out how to deal with the drainage problem with only my beak and claws. After lifting the seed back home, I spent an entire day working on it. As for the plug part, I used a piece of wood carved by the Adventurer's knife furtively. The only defect that was hard to address was the lifting part of the plug. I cannot attach some rigid artificial material without getting noticed by Jewel, so recently, I just carved a groove on it, and we'll use our beaks to pull it out.

Moreover, in case Jewel read those things mentioned above, I made the new hiding place come into use.

They said they’d take off tomorrow morning, and some members complained about their tight plans. I shuttled between home and the reserve center to bring the communication device back but found that the radio wave could not transport that far with enough quality. Worse, we still needed more money to buy Carla a new phone. As for now, the only large communication device is my mobile phone (and GPS at the same time). Jewel hates the feeling of uncertainty about her daughter's life.

Well, we watched them leave as usual this time. I had to say that some worry was hiding deep in my mind. After all, Nigel is still staying in Rio, and I bet he’s still mad at me, but who knows if he would make some trouble with my kids? So, I gave her my fanny pack and the only mobile phone. She was growing pretty fast and nearly as tall as my neck.

I felt so good to be surrounded by our folks. I still remember when I was staying in the tree in Peru, waiting for Jewel and the kids to bring back the breakfast of their parts; I met some kind birds standing beside me. I tried to pick up a talk with them for no reason, and it seemed that it was not my expertise either, so the conversation ended awkwardly. Maybe it was the loneliness? I don’t know when I have become as sensitive as Jewel. Huh.

Today Jewel asked me whether I would like to take her to the reserve center and give Carla a video call. Pretty funny, isn’t it? Sometimes we have to admit the convenience of those advanced technologies. So, we set up a routine of coming here every Sunday. It’s such a relief for me, a city bird.

However, we found that Fernando wasn’t there. After a challenging communication with the other workers there, we knew he had gone out for an investigation deep in the jungle and won’t return today. What’s worse? They declined our request to use their working specialized devices.

Jewel had a nightmare last night. She said she dreamed about a catastrophe at the bank, and Nigel caused it. I tried to pacify her by reminding her that Nigel was only mad at me. However, I think he won’t be that cruel to catch my kid asking for my appearance. Instead of doing that, why doesn’t he come here for me? After all, he doesn’t know we’re able to connect with Carla.

Carla didn’t pick up the phone, but why? After a few hours, I called her again, but it was Pedro and Nico answered it. It seemed that they were petrified. Later they said that a group of hunters attacked them.

Jewel and I left the tribe in an intense hurry. It’s so kind of Fernando to lend his phone to us. On the road, I called Linda for help. What’s more, I told Linda to set that cockatoo in a separate room aside from others, the same at night. She asked me why I just answered that it’s hard to explain in a few words but trust me.
