Former Liverpool, Barcelona & Atletico Madrid midfielder Luis Garcia signs for Panathinaikos
Ex-Reds favourite confirms he has signed for Greek champions

Former Liverpool, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Racing Santander attacker Luis Garcia has agreed terms with Greek side Panathinaikos, the player himself has confirmed.
The 32-year-old, who was a fans' favourite during his spell at Anfield from 2004 to 2007, didn't enjoy the best of seasons in the Primera Division last term, making just 14 appearances, prompting Racing to release him from his contract. This decision made him a free agent, and he has signed a one-year deal with the Athens club.
The Shamrocks have swooped to offer Garcia a contract, and, speaking in Greek newspaper Sport Day, he revealed his delight at moving to the current domestic champions.
He beamed: “It is an exceptional honour for me that I will be able to continue my career with Panathinaikos.
“It is a big opportunity for me to win new titles in my career with the biggest club in Greece.”
Garcia spent a number of years on loan before enjoying a breakthrough season at Atletico Madrid in 2002-03, prompting Barcelona to take him back to the Camp Nou, where he spent the next season before Rafa Benitez signed him for Liverpool.
There he enjoyed Champions League glory in 2005, and by moving to Panathinaikos he will join up with former Anfield team-mate Djibril Cisse, who moved to Greece last year.
