Yellow card is a warning sign in football. It is used by referees to indicate that a player has committed an offense which is not severe enough to merit a red card, but still warrants punishment. A yellow card can also be issued for dissent, either verbal or physical, and for delaying the restart of play. When a player receives two yellow cards in one match, he will receive a red card and be sent off the field. Receiving a yellow card results in missing the next match due to suspension.
