The Scrafice of Personal Life
Marriage may be compared to a cage: the birds outside despair to get in and those within despair to get out.
——Michel de Montaigne
Marriage is an empty ship, ballast by two things, love and children.

Just as many famous people from all over the world said, marriage is like a killer of freedom. Chinese parents’ urge for children to marry is selfish to take away personal freedom? Yes, but not quite.
Marriage naturally leads to childbirth and a baby is the bone of many contentions. But in China, most parents will help care for the baby. We Chinese have a strong sense of community and are willing to make sacrifices, such as personal time, for the family, the smallest collective unit. Data from the China Health and Old-age Tracking Survey show that 73.29 percent of the elderly in China provide intergenerational care.[1]Some grandparents enjoyed the pleasure of taking care of grandchildren. The role of grandparent makes them feel valued and increases life satisfaction.[3]
So Chinese parents want their children to enjoy bonus from marriage and would sacrifice their personal space and time to look after babies to relieve the pressure on young couples. This is another way that parents show their love. They’ve suffered so much and know marriage is a double-edged sword. However, they decide to turn the bad side towards themselves and persuade their children to find the other half.
This is Chinese parents.
In the name of parents, I remind you to find your happiness.
