The Cat (My Half Day Pet)
2010-06-03 12:41
(Real story happened when my father was young)
It was hard to believe that people wanted a pet in a situation like this. The whole city was not very rich. Even though everyone could get a job. But still, people could hardly take good care of themsleves. There was not any good equipment. Houses were included, too. Anyway, at that time we only could do things for ourselves, take care ourselves and make sure bad things were not happening to ourselves. We did not have to care about stray wild creature in the alley or hungry beggers beside the street those were such non-sense. But I still recalled that day I care for a pet, The Cat, clearly.
The Cat was outside of my window. I opened the window and let it in because no one was at home at that time. It was fun to have a non-human creature play with you. I never got a chance to have a pet before. My parents would not allow it. But now I had The Cat in my house. I decided to take care of it while it was staying. Even half day.
My parents came back. I could not let them see The Cat so I hid it under the bed. We had lunch. Today we had meat. Some simple meat. It was just simple, but it still tasted good. I gave some to The Cat who still hid under the bed while my parents were not looking. The Cat would like the meat.
Right, fun to have a pet. But if you were secretly raising one, that would easily lead to failure. The truth always appeared in the end. No matter how hard you tried to hide it. There were always someway to figure out secrets.
The Cat mewed. It mewed under the bed. It mewed softly but sharply. It mewed again. I was so exhausted that I wusged it would stop mewing now. Too bad there was not anything I could do. Finally the truth came out. My parents had noticed that I had been hiding an animals for half day.
"You have to get rid of it," Father said with a stern look. I had no way to argue against my own father so I opened the door and let it go. It came back outside of my window and looked at me after a while. It looked like it still wanted meat.
"Sorry," I forced a smile. "I wish I could get some for you. But no. I'm really sorry......"
I have never seen The Cat back since that day.
