Victoria Vantoch's dissertation, “Ambassadors of the Air: The Airline Stewardess, Glamour and Technology in the Cold War, 1945 to 1969,” explores how airline stewardesses represented womanhood within the context of Cold War ideology. Victoria is the recipient of the 2006-07 National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Fellowship in Aerospace History. Last year, she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship from the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., where she conducted dissertation research. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Chicago and spent one year as a visiting student at Oxford University. She has also published more than 45 popular articles in national magazines and newspapers. Her research interests include: gender and sexuality, beauty, popular culture, and technology. SWEETHEART!
