Hello everyone,
Here’s a new gameplay trailer for Scorn. Enjoy.
This is the sort of substantial update we had in mind. The game is running on Xbox Series X hardware with brand new content and upgraded game systems. The footage is from a different part of the same level from the 2017 trailer, so you can easily compare the progress that was made.
We wanted to give you the idea of how the game can look and feel, now that we have enough time and resources to develop it the way we wanted. Even though it's still a work in progress, we feel that we have come a long way since that 2017 demo, and we can still push the limits some more.
Everything that we’ve been working on for the past three years is slowly coming to fruition, and this video is the closest representation of our team's vision. We worked hard on every aspect of production, and it’s safe to say that there’s tangible progress in all parts of the game.
We completed designs and fully implemented most of the gameplay mechanics, including combat systems, in-game inventory, health and ammo stations, save game system, seamless level loading, all sorts of animation systems, interaction with the environment, AI, and many other supporting systems. Performance and optimization are also a big concern for us, so we’re working hard to have the game run at a smooth 60fps on Series X/S and comparable PCs.
You probably spotted new weapons and creature in the video, and there’s more of those that we do not want to spoil at the moment. Along with the expanded weaponry and bestiary, there are new reactions and behaviors for the existing creatures opening up even more gameplay opportunities. Utilizing the environment in your favor will be very important, so learning about the world through observation will play a critical role.
Our team became even larger, as we added more manpower to our QA, Art, and Audio teams. We are also pushing the release of Scorn to 2021. We realize that is something most of you don’t like to hear but it’s necessary for delivering a great game. We will reveal the exact release date once we are 100% sure we are going to make it.
The only thing that is important to us is creating the best game possible, and people enjoying it when it's released. We really hope to make something that is going to be well worth the wait.
And last, but not least, here are some high-res in-game screenshots without YouTube compression (click on the images to open them). Until the next update, take care.
