“Luoyang city of Sui and Tang dynasties started to be built in the first year of Daye (605 AD) in Emperor Yang’s reign of Sui Dynasty and the construction was finished in the following year. In Sui Dynasty, the city was referred to as “Dong Du”, also known as “Dong Jing”, meaning east and new capital. The status of the city was only second to that of Chang‘an. ”
