Today - 07.07.2019 - the international triathlon competition Ironman Austria-Kärnten takes place in Klagenfurt. Distances: 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling, 42.195 km running.
Every participant who crosses the finish line before midnight can proudly call himself "Ironman".
With 3800 participants from 77 nations, the Ironman in Klagenfurt is the largest in the world. 86% of the participants are men, 14% are women. More than 2000 volunteers take care of the athletes during the race. 20,000 litres of isotonic drinks, plus 20,000 energy bars and two tons of bananas.
