圈养5.1米800公斤咸水鳄
About a dozen people wrangled the estuarine crocodile — just more than five metres long — to the Billabong Sanctuary, south of Townsville, on Friday morning.
He goes by the name of Krakatoa and was handed over to the new owners under the condition that his partner, Madonna, went with him.
The previous owner and operator at the Pellemari crocodile farm, Charles Banks, had him for six years in Townsville and said he could not let Krakatoa go without Madonna.
"During that time one of his girls died and he mourned for about eight months and didn't eat," he said.
"We didn't see him — he just didn't appear.
"He was very fond of her and it took a while to pair him up with another female.
"When we did pair him up, he was doing all the right things to impress her.
"He was very gentle and he was very keen to get on with the breeding season."(Giant Queensland crocodile, Krakatoa, relocates to Townsville with his new love)
