“This has been my best performance during this tournament. A final is always different but I did a great job and I think that I deserved to win today,” Klizan was pleased afterwards.
The World No. 112 improved to 6-0 in title matches, equalling Ernests Gulbis for the most wins without a loss in finals since the ATP World Tour was established.
“Every final was different. Sometimes I was lucky, sometimes it was hard work or I was better on court. I am just happy with this kind of statistics. In doubles I won four titles from four finals. That’s very good and I am very proud of it,” said Klizan, who has worked with former-professionalDominik Hrbaty as coach since December last year.
“The partnership has been great so far. He has helped me to improve my game, also in mental parts. I hope we can continue like this and climbing up the rankings again.”
Klizan also said that he will not have a lot of time to celebrate. “Except for Federer maybe, who is having three months off, the ‘normal guys’ on the tour have to play week by week,” he told with a smile. “I will go to another tournament tomorrow. I will just enjoy this day and prepare for the next week.”
