Q: I have read your resume and I really admire you because of your working experience and educational experience. I think you have done a lot of things. So based on these two aspects which are working and education, what do you think of the choice of major and the change of major because I saw your major was about the society.
在读完您的简历后，我被您拥有的很多工作及教育经历感到敬佩不已。所以，基于您的个人经验，可不可以给学生提一点关于选择专业和之后想转专业的看法呢？因为了解到您曾是社会学专业的学生。
A:Yes, I majored in psychology and sociology and I moved on to sociology because I had to do a lot more society social issues such as policy and government. I was more interested in that and the sociology indeed cooperated with lot of psychological aspects as well.
好的，我曾经是心理学和社会学专业的学生。我之所以转到社会学是因为我需要完成更多类似于政府与政策制定有关的社会类话题。这些方面更能激起我的兴趣，并且我认为社会学这门学科也结合了心理学部分内容在里面。所以这两者也不是完全的。

Q: Do you have any suggestion for new generation that will be admitted by our college?
对于即将来班戈学院学习的新生们有什么建议吗？
A: My suggestion would be: stay passionate, stay curious about knowledge, don’t be shy, be young at this stage , be exposed to more new things , travel as much as possible, presume education ( education is vital ) ,work hard to change fate.
我的建议是：永远保持热情，留住你对于探求知识的好奇心，不要不好意思，拥有青年人的朝气，多去不同的地方看看，努力学习，通过自身的努力来改变命运。
Q: How to balance study and relaxation?
怎样平衡学习和休闲？
A: It is very important to balance. Do the work and then play. I believe that work comes the first. When the work is done then we can play, have funs and do own things. Besides, doing exercises accounts, too. Doing exercises such as jogging, hanging out with friends, etc. For my own experience, if I was faced too heavy workload, then I would relax myself for a week and keep focus on work when I return.
这两者的平衡极其重要。完成必须的工作后就可以放松自己，所以在我看来工作是第一位。此外，也要保持锻炼身体的习惯，比如：慢跑、和朋友逛逛等等。如果我觉得工作给我带来的压力过大时，我会休息一阵子再全力投入到工作中。

Q: During the process of teaching English, have you found some problems that are common among Chinese students when they learn English?
在您教书的这段时间，中国学生学习英语普遍存在的问题是什么？
A: I have stayed in china for a long time. Generally speaking, I think Chinese students are all hardworking and they are aware of grammar mistakes so grammar is not a serious problem. The main issue is the pronunciation which needs a lot of practices. Considering the cultural environment, students in China don’t get into native speakers a lot. I always encourage my students to try, for example, when you are listening to a conversation, you could copy what speakers say and it is helpful to improve pronunciation but practice is more essential. To pronounce a language is tough and starting to this is hard too and no excuses not to speak so if students want to pronounce English well they should attach English stuff such as magazines, movies, ect as much as possible, and speak to native speakers bravely. This method also could be partly applied into preparation of speaking part in IELTS test. For speaking part of IELTS test, students could collect some topics or issues, focus and centralize these topics because the ability of story telling is key in speaking.
我在中国待了很长时间了。总体来说，中国的孩子们都非常地刻苦努力并且他们对于语法知识点都非常地熟悉，所以这一块并不是他们的主要问题。我认为主要需要提高的是发音部分，这需要多加练习提高。因为环境的原因，可能大家能和外教接触的机会并不多。我经常鼓励我的学生们去和外教交流。比如：当你听一段英文对话时，你可以模仿他们，这对于你发音的提高很有帮助，但前提是一定要练习。我知道这个过程不容易，但如果想要提高就得多看看杂志电影并且勇于和外国人交流。这同样可以做为准备雅思口语的练习。对于雅思口语，学生们可以选择一些话题。提高讲故事的能力是让口语进步的关键。

Q: How to overcome the fear of listening or interacting with foreign teachers?
怎样克服不敢和外教交流的心理障碍？
A: Anxiety is common. So don’t worry, just practice, be prepared to the coming;be positive and engage in class.
焦虑是很正常的。所以不必担心，做好准备，积极主动地参与到课堂中就好。
Q: What’s your opinion about students using Chinese version textbooks to understand original English materials?
您怎么看待学生用中国的教材来理解起源于西方的知识？
A: It can help students understand the knowledge better and it is better for students to use two versions together. Translation is ok but understanding is the most important.
这可以更好地帮助学生理解知识。我建议学生最好同时使用中英两个版本。使用翻译后的是可以接受的，但最终要的是要理解里面的内容。
