NIKKI Webster’s musical comeback needs some major input from her fans to get back on track.
Her new release Strawberry Kisses 2017 entered this week’s ARIA chart at No 97, with 1989 sales.
The charity song was released to raise funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
It features Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac ‘rapping’ on the remake of the hit song that sat at No 2 for seven weeks in 2001.
The remake was promoted on Sunrise but has yet to connect with the masses who made the original go platinum.
Some comments online have singled out Mac’s rapping as “an act of aggression against the ears”.
Webster became a mother in 2014, her last single was Devilicious which reached No 78 in 2009.
The performer now runs successful dance studios in Sydney.
