As well as an enjoyable story the action is pretty good in Ghost Hill. Obviously it's a swordplay and a lot of the choreography is at the higher end of the quality scale considering the date, making good use of some decent editing and the natural talents of Tien Peng and Polly. There's one or two moments where the undercranking is ridiculous and excessive but because of the huge amount of action that take place in the film it's a small complaint really. What any wuxia film really needs is a hidden lair full of traps and Ghost Hill won’t disappoint any one in this department - to get to King Gold our heroes have to battle their way through the 10 'Death Gates' (Poison, Ice, Fire, Spikes, snakes etc) which takes about thirty minutes solid of fighting against masses of ninjas and weird henchmen. And that's before they reach the invincible King himself who for me was the highlight of the film with his gold painted face, demonic laugh and iron skin technique.
All in all a very satisfying film with a pure evil villain, nice action, good story and colourful characters. For me the fantastical elements raised it slightly above similar Taiwanese efforts - excellent.
