美国乐评人第一时间点评尚雯婕新单“Big Up”

My favorite C-Pop artist has just released a new single. It's called "Big UP" and it certainly kicks up the tempo compared to her more recent work. It's bursting with energy, beats bouncing away, hitting the ground hard like basketballs. And it's in English, so if you normally wouldn't listen to something in Chinese you have nothing preventing you from listening to this one. (Because, obviously, you understand English if you're reading this review. Well, unless you're using Google translate on it!)
If you liked Laure's early work, like Fashion Icon, you're in for a real treat with this one. It's as catchy as that album's opening track, "连卡佛小姐," which is actually in French in spite of the title being in Chinese. (Laure often sings in French.)
"You / Used to step back / And watch yourself fall / Afraid to dream out loud in the night / You / You just couldn't see / The chance that you could be," Laure sings with a whole lot of enthusiasm, clearly intending to inspire her fans with this one. And if you're not already a fan, well, she's likely win you over with it, provided you like catchy, danceable pop songs. -Michael McCarthy
Note: I was not able to listen to this track using Chrome or IE or Firefox. I had to use the Tor browser to listen to it, otherwise a window would pop up with some message in Chinese when I clicked on the universal play icon. Also, the image used with this post is not the cover art for this single. I couldn't find that so I just used a cool photo of her that I found via Google.
