Well, the Game of Thrones panel at LFCC turned out to be pretty wild despite Charles Dance and Rose Leslie having to pull out, and we ended up with Carice van Houten (Melisandre), Daniel Portman (Pod), and Finn Jones (Loras) and the woman who plays Obara (can’t be bothered looking her name up as the Sand Snakes were that terrible) joined later.
Did you read the books and know what to do with your character?
Daniel says no. He jokes that Pod’s like 8 in the books so he’s doing a terrible job of portraying that lol.
Carice: No idea, haven’t read them either. Says she spoke to Liam Cunningham about whether a fantasy show would be successful(?). His answer was “fuck yes”. She comments on how funny it is that she and Liam are BFFs when Davos/Melisandre dislike each other.
What did you think of the Season 5 finale?
Daniel: because they’ve already seen the scripts months before, the shock’s gone by the time it airs, but it was GOOD.
Carice: she was really happy to be able to portray a different, vulnerable side to Melisandre, especially when after Shireen’s death everything “went tits up”, you see the look on her face saying “oh fuck”. She liked doing that.
They’ve had the scripts and start filming again on Monday!
What’s it like wearing costumes?
Daniel: uncomfortable.
Carice mentions that’s she always bloody cold while in the books she’s literally always warm and it’s not fair lol
Guy with a question for “Clarice.” Yikes, dude get her name right, how embarrassing. Carice laughs about internet memes saying they’ll forgive her Shireen if she saves Jon Snow. Says she got infinite “fuck off bitch” tweets on Twitter and has never had so many death wishes.
How do you want your character to die?

Memorable moments on set/who misbehaves most?
Liam Cunningham is, according to Carice a “total goofball” she found the contrast between Stephen/Stannis and Liam/Davos hilarious. Liam and Stephen were like Laurel and Hardy. THIS CAST I CANNOT.
Dan fell down the stairs on his second ever day of filming and SPLIT HIS TROUSERS KNEE TO CROTCH LMAO. This is such a Pod thing to do!!

Carice says ALF, which is this weird puppet thing from the 80s? I think?
“Is Jon Snow dead?” Everyone says yes for obvious reasons.
Favourite scene: Dan says brothel, everyone in the hall laughs, “give them what they want” he says, LMAO.

Ramsay wins by ACCLAMATION, Daniel also says Littlefinger. This is also good. Finn is a troll and says Arya, gets roundly booed. LOL.

Finn - Natalie, he’s got a good connection with her, also likes Diana Rigg
Obara: Alexander Siddig, mainly because she’s worked with him lots before. Daniel - Jerome Flynn - relaxed actor, lovely guy. Says he’s acts like a master of whatever craft he masters LOL he tied himself in verbal knots there. Carice says STEPHEN!!! I hoped she would. She says he’s an unconventional actor, doesn’t go obvious. He has “so little ego” which is why he doesn’t do cons and publicity stuff, he only cares about the part and the “human mind” angle to it. Interesting not easy actor to work with.
As someone who loves Stephen Dillane that was a treasure trove of an answer for me!!
Who would win out of white walkers vs dragons?
Finn: they’ll wipe each other out and the tree people will regrow everything and bring peace. THIS IS A THEORY MORE LEGIT THAN 90% of WHAT THIS FANDOM COMES UP WITH.
Joker hijacks the proceedings! No seriously a guy cosplaying as Joker’s “question” is to ask the panel for a high five, which he gets! That was awesome.
How do you think it’ll end?
Finn explains that because they’ve already got scripts that now go beyond book, they can’t answer. Hell, he says, just his facial expressions in reaction to questions could give away stuff lol.
Who would you bring back from the dead?
Carice says CHARLES DANCE as she loved watching him - the CHEERS and whoops when she said this, people, you would not believe. Raised the roof. CHARLES YOU ARE TRULY ADORED AND YOU WERE MISSED!

Who’s more menacing, Melisandre/High Sparrow?
Finn doesn’t find either of them menacing. Um, dude, he’s got your character in a jail cell facing gods know what just for being gay, HELLO.
Most difficult scene to film:
Daniel: brothel again lol. Carice: shadow baby! She was stuck in prosthetics for 6 hours, and every time she opened her robes the fake belly deflated so they had to keep pumping air in. And this while in a muddy cave, with Liam Cunningham there, and half naked.
