“Adam? Are you going to stay here for long?” Richard asked him when they were sitting on the booth eating their ice creams. Adam’s head turned to Taylor and she shrugged.
“I don’t know yet. We’ll see.” He answered simply. Richard then started to ramble about superheroes and how he wanted to go to the zoo. Adam loved every minute of it. This was the longest he had spent with Richard. He noticed how green his eyes were, how they looked like his. He had known he was a father for a few hours but he already loved that kid.

“Buddy, why don’t you tell Adam about what you’re doing next week for your birthday?” Taylor smiled at her son as his eyes immediately lit up. Taylor had told Adam everything about Richard, including telling him when his birthday was. She hoped he would be able to be there but this was still very new so she wasn’t sure.
“Mommy is taking me to Rhode Island so we can have a big party with aunt Karlie and Uncle Ed is coming too. Grandma and Grandpa are coming with us, even Leo is going to be there.” Leo was Taylor’s godson, Jaime’s son and he was Richard’s best friend. They saw each other all the time despite living in different places. The age difference was almost two years, the two little boys got along super well ever since Richard was born. “Mommy promised that we could have a big slide on the pool.” He added, excitedly.
“Yeah? That’s so cool, Ricky. Have you decided what you want for your birthday?” Adam asked him, smiling. The green eyed kid nodded enthusiastically.
“I wanted to have Captain America’s shield but then I saw this really cool Hulk mask and now I want that.” He told him while Adam nodded his head making it look like a serious conversation.
“But isn’t Cap’s shield a lot cooler?” Adam questioned making Richard think about it more.
“But I already have a Captain American action figure and I have nothing about Hulk.” He frowned. “I’m going to stick to my guns.”
“Where did that sentence come from, smarty pants?” Taylor poked his stomach making him giggle.
“I heard you say it on the phone and I asked grandma what it was and she said it was not changing your mind.” He told them proudly.
“Wow, look at my smart little man, huh?” Taylor ruffled his hair while he started blushing.

“Mom!” He whined when she kissed his cheek.

“You sound like a teenager.” She rolled her eyes. Adam was staying back smiling at them. He loved watching Taylor acting like this, like a mom. He had imagined it when they were together but nothing compared to it actually happening. The circumstances were different than what he had imagined but he still loved every minute of it. He hoped he could make up for the years he lost. That kid was something special and he may not know that he was his dad but he wanted to make sure he got everything he needed. He didn’t have any more time to waste and he wanted to appreciate every second of every moment.

Chapter5

“When do you have to go back to LA?” Taylor asked quietly after they put Richard to bed. Adam had ended up staying for dinner and then they watched a movie because Richard was hard to say no to when he wanted something.
“After tomorrow.” He replied and Taylor’s face fell slightly. “I have the week off next week though. Do you think I could go to his birthday party?” He inquired, hopeful.
“I’d love it if you came.” She smiled. “Should we tell him before that?”
“If you want to, yes.” He spoke softly, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “You’re an amazing mum.” He commented and she shook her head.

“I’m glad you’re here.” She whispered making him smile. He forgot the feeling of having her in his arms and it made him so happy to have her again. “He likes you, you know?” She raised an eyebrow at him. He laughed remembering how the kid hadn’t let go of him that day. “I missed having you around.”
“I missed having you around as well, Miss Swift.” He told her. “Can we tell him tomorrow? I kind of want him to know.”
“We can. He’ll be really happy.” She nodded and they stared at each other for a little too long before Taylor cleared her throat. “Well, it’s getting late.” She hinted.
“Yeah I should probably go.” He stood up from the couch and followed her to the door. “I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.” He smiled.
“Yeah. I’ll see you tomorrow.” She told him and he gave her a quick hug before walking towards the elevator. He looked back at her and waved, smiling making her laugh. Taylor closed the door and leaned her back against it. It felt like everything was finally getting on tack and she couldn’t be happier. She went to bed and fell asleep with a small smile on her face. Tomorrow was going to be a big day.

Taylor was awoken by hands on her face and giggles. She peeled her eyes open to see her green eyed son staring down at her. An instant smile spread across her face.
“Good morning, Mr. Richard.” She tickled his belly and his beautiful giggles that Taylor labeled as one of her favorite sounds, better than any song sounded through the house.
They got off the bed and moved to the kitchen, so Taylor could make breakfast. They were sitting down, eating when the doorbell rang making Richard jump and Taylor laugh at him. She walked to the door and opened it to see the smile she loved.

“Hey. I didn’t know you were coming now.” She laughed looking down at her body. She was still wearing her cat pajamas. Her obsession with cats hadn’t subsided. Meredith and Olivia were currently in New York being taken care of by Karlie. She had considered getting another cat but she already had to take care of two cats and Richard.
“Yeah, sorry. I was too excited.” He admitted sending a smile to her face. He had been pacing around his hotel room wondering if he should go in the morning or wait but he couldn’t do it anymore.
“Come in. We’re having bacon and eggs as requested by Richard.” She smiled, stepping aside. She closed the door when he walked in and heard Richard’s voice calling her. “God! You’re so impatient.”

“He takes after you.” Adam teased. Taylor rolled her eyes before entering the kitchen. “Hey, Ricky. What’s up buddy?” He smiled.
“Adam!” The little kid yelled out, excited to see him.
“Hey, little man. How are you?” He asked, sitting down next to Taylor as she smiled at him.
“I’m good.” He answered with his mouth full of food, earning a glare from Taylor. “Sorry.” He looked down.

Taylor grabbed her phone and texted Adam asking if they should tell him now or wait until later. Adam nodded eagerly looking at her.
“Ricky? We have something to tell you.” Taylor began and without thinking reached for Adam’s hand that was resting on his thigh under the table. He took her hand, holding it in his tightly. He knew Taylor was nervous. He knew her even though they hadn’t seen each other for a long time. “You know how mommy told you that your daddy had to go away?” Richard nodded, interested in the conversation. All he wanted was to know more about his daddy. “Well he’s here.” He looked confused, his eyebrows furrowing. “Adam’s your daddy, baby.” Taylor smiled softly. His eyes widened when his gaze fell onto Adam. He jumped out of his seat and ran to Adam, wrapping his little arms around his torso. Adam picked him up and set him on his lap, holding the little boy close to him.

Chapter6

“Can daddy come earlier, mommy?” Richard begged his mom. They were currently on the plane so they could get to Rhode Island. After telling Richard that Adam was his dad, he wanted to spend every waking minute with him. Even though he had to leave for LA, he made sure to do everything the kid wanted. The moment that warmed their hearts was when Richard called him ‘daddy’ for the first time. It took everything in Adam not to cry. Richard called him everyday ever since he was gone which wasn’t long, only two days.
“I don’t know, baby. Let’s give him a call, shall we?” Taylor smiled at her son, grabbing her phone from her purse. She dialed his number and in only two rings, Adam picked up.
