Constantine star Matt Ryan to romance Keira Knightley on Broadway (and Judith Light will be there, too)
Broadway, where Judith Light can play Keira Knightley’s mother-in-law and we’re all better people because of it.
Judith Light, Matt Ryan and Gabriel Ebert have been added to the cast of Roundabout Theatre Company’s upcoming production of Therese Raquin, starring Keira Knightley in her Broadway debut. The show begins previews at Studio 54 on Oct. 1.
Knightley plays restless Therese, who’s stuck in a loveless marriage with her weak husband (Ebert) and her controlling mother-in-law (Light). Her husband’s childhood friend, Laurent (Ryan), sparks a fiery passion that spins out of control.
Light is a two-time Tony Award winner most recently seen on Broadway in 2013’s The Assembled Parties at MTC. Ebert, a Tony winner for playing the scheming Mr. Wormwood in Matilda the Musical, recently tread the boards in last season’s Casa Valentina. Ryan, who starred on NBC’s comic adaptation Constantine, previously appeared on Broadway in the 2009 revival of Hamlet, playing Horatio and understudying the lead role.
Evan Cabnet directs the Helen Edmundson script; the production opens on Oct. 29.
