Teaching is an art, that I*m still learning and improving for myself every single day when I step on the mat. I do well sometimes, and I could do it much better sometimes, no matter how I feel personally on the day, I tell myself I must do my best for my students, *cause it is the descipline, the principle, the drive to make myself better and the people who believe in me better, this is the only way to achieve my dream.
Teaching is difficult as it*s not just about showing a technique, break it down, and just let people do it. You*ve only achieved less than 50% of the objective. It*s about making your students better through the process. They may feel down so you need to cheer them up. They may feel frustrated so you need to enrouge them. They may feel like giving up so you need to find a way to let them realize there is NO quitting in them. Your students are very different individuals, so you can*t treat them and teach them the same way. For some, you need to be very strict and even harsh, as for others, you need to be more encouraging and caring. You need to learn about their personalities, and you need to know their strengths and weaknesses, and even spot very subtle things about them in order to help them the best you can. You can*t just treat them as customers. You need to treat them as friends, families, so you care about them to truly be supportive when they need you.
It is NOT easy to be a good teacher. It is a constant learning process. But it is worth doing as it is the best feeling to see them getting into the best shape of their life, not just physically but mentally, to be a better father, a better mother, a better son and daughter, better husbands and wives, a better person. That*s what drives me to do it everyday. It is NOT about the money. Money is just by-product to me. The biggest achievement for me is to be respected and remembered even after I am long gone in this world.
Life is beautiful with jiujitsu. Thank you, all my students, my friends, and my family! It*s just how I feel at this very moments to share with you.
