On Govi's latest recording, he heads south of the border and lands squarely in the heart of the Andes. But in true Gypsy form, he manages to invoke the flavors of other cultures and lands as he travels through the musical spaces on this breezy tour-de-force. The strong South American influence is, however, less in The Inti-Illimani vein than in the style that fellow-countryman Deuter has previously explored on a few cuts, and similarities between these two artists are apparent on at least two or three of the tracks on Heart of a Gypsy.
