When paying a shopkeeper, we may find it convenient to put the money on the counter as we take it out of our wallet.

You must put the money in a shopkeeper’s hand.
Ep 5 K-ball
According to the Korean Consulate General in Hong Kong, in 2014 there are around 13,000 Koreans living here. At the turn of the century many Koreans came to Hong Kong to work, do business, and even get married. John Jun and Hwang Seon Chel are among them.
John came in 2003 when SARS hit Hong Kong. At the time he was desperate and helpless. But the fighting spirit instilled in him when he was doing military service back in Korea made him decide to stay to ride out the storm with the local people. In 2013 he set up K9, a Korean baseball team. K stands for Korea and 9 stands for Kowloon (9 dragons). He hopes to familiarise the local people with the game. Baseball is a favourite game in Korea. It is about team spirit, which is perfectly in line with their national character. Every weekend, John and Hwang Seon Chel will spend almost the whole day braving the fierce sun overhead to train. He has been doing that for thirty years at home. Thirty years later, he is continuing his baseball dream on foreign soil.
Most people’s impression of Korean men is that they are traditional and want their wives to stay at home. Many traditional views have been gradually changing among the Koreans living here. Take for example Hwang Seon Chel who came to Hong Kong in 1999. He spends his weekends on the baseball field with his family and he shares his wife’s duty in taking care of their children. What hasn’t changed is their commitment and seriousness at work. John, who is fluent in English and open-minded, and Hwang Seon Chel, who speaks English, Cantonese, and Putonghua, are perfectly at ease in this cosmopolitan city. Being able to continue their favourite game on foreign soil is the main reason they have been able to integrate into the Hong Kong society.
