Martin Klizan and Philipp Oswald needed just 52 minutes to beat top seeds Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi 6-2, 6-0 on Saturday to clinch the Open de Nice Côte d’Azur title.
Klizan and Oswald broke serve five times for earn their first ATP World Tour team doubles title.
“Thank you to Philipp,” Klizan told ATPWorldTour.com. “We entered the doubles 10 minutes before the deadline. So it was a good result. I think we’ll play together in tournaments in the future. I would like to come back here again next year.”
Klizan won the Vegeta Croatia Open Umag crown with David Marrero last year, while Oswald partnered Guillermo Garcia-Lopez to the Brasil Open 2014 trophy.
"It's been an unbelievable week for both of us,” Oswald told ATPWorldTour.com. “Martin and I literally agreed to play together 15 minutes before the deadline.
"It's been a great experience to play with him. He is a great player overall and he returns really, really well. We both played very good all week - and especially today. We both served well the entire match. It's been a wonderful week here in Nice."
Bopanna and Qureshi finished runner-up in 2010 (l. to Melo-Soares). Bopanna is now 10-18 in finals, while Qureshi dropped to 10-12 overall in championship matches. As a team, they are 5-9 in finals.
