No cramped, hot dorms for our students! We're taking over the Quality Inn where the students will be housed in double rooms each with two queen-size beds, small fridges and microwave ovens. Hot breakfast is served at the hotel each morning. There's a small gym and a good size outdoor pool.
The students will each get a city bus pass and dedicated buses will take them to Yale University, less than 4 km away, each morning. Jump on the bus going the other direction and you're on the sandy beaches of Long Island Sound just a few minutes away.Lunches are provided in the Yale dining rooms and dinners can be eaten there too or you can use your vouchers to dine at one of 20 great restaurants within a short walk of the campus or the hotel.
There will always be at least two staff members at the hotel and usually five. Students and their parents will also have a 24-hour emergency contact number.
Students must take a swimming proficiency test to determine their required level of supervision at the pool.
We're also going to require that each student activate the Glympse application on their mobile phones so we can know where they are at all times.
The students and the program are fully insured. Their parents and Lotus STEM would accept nothing less.
