MIAMI (dpa).- Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic y Andy Murray confían en la experiencia de Juan Martín del Potro para superar la lesión que lo tiene alejado de los courts, que lo obligaron a retirarse de Indian Wells y ahora le impidieron presentarse en el Masters 1000 de Miami.
"Estoy seguro de que tiene que repensar qué hace a partir de ahora, porque no es algo que uno quiera seguir haciendo. O descansas o juegas con dolor. Y si duele mucho, no tienes muchas posibilidades", dijo Federer en el torneo.
Del Potro, número ocho del ranking, anunció el miércoles su renuncia a Miami por los mismos dolores por los que se retiró de Dubai y descartó Indian Wells las últimas semanas.
"Lo bueno es que ya lo superó una vez. De alguna manera, ya sabe lo que es", dijo Federer, que animó al tandilense a estar "fuerte mentalmente".
Las reiteradas molestias en la muñeca izquierda que siente desde hace dos años podrían obligar al campeón del Abierto de Estados Unidos 2009 a recurrir una vez más al quirófano. La operación en la muñeca derecha lo mantuvo en 2010 largo tiempo fuera de las canchas.
Por su parte, Djokovic cree que el físico de Del Potro juega en su contra: "Es muy alto y es muy difícil para él jugar cada semana a un nivel alto. Su cuerpo está sufriendo y es una mala suerte que alguien de su calidad no juegue".
"El tenis lo extraña, seguro. Es siempre uno de los candidatos para los grandes títulos. Es muy divertido verlo jugar. Es un buen chico", dijo el serbio, segundo favorito en Miami.
Murray, que defiende título en Florida, destacó lo delicado que es un problema en la muñeca: "En el 50 por ciento de los golpes lo vas a notar".
El británico señaló que haber superado una lesión en la articulación de la mano derecha, por la que Del Potro se perdió casi todo 2010, le ayudará ahora. "Ya se recuperó antes de un problema serio, volvió al nivel anterior y espero que lo pueda hacer de nuevo", deseó Murray .
Del Potro está siendo tratado por el médico Richard Berger de la Clínica Mayo de Minnesota, el mismo especialista que lo operó de la otra muñeca, pero hasta el momento se desconoce la solución a sus problemas

Once again, there is NO official news on Delpo having surgery. He will make a decision after seeing Dr Berger over next few days.
