Bigbang’s main vocalist solo debut in Japan!
D-LITE
(from Bigbang)
A hanky is needed when one is listening to D-LITE’s “D’scover” that received good criticism because of his tender and sensitive singing voice. Other than putting in his feelings into the song, there is also a story about his little sad love story when he was 10 years old. He will show everybody who he is!
Nice to meet you!

Songs are evidence of love. Although love is always one-sided
POTATO: Learning Japanese, researching on the original songs, you poured your soul into the 12 songs and you completed your solo album. How do you feel right now?
D-LITE: There are many tiring things. But if I don’t add my colors in, I feel like I have let down the listeners. So I had to understand the lyrics and perform the song and think back to how I felt when I first heard of this song. I hope listeners will be able to feel the warm and passion in my songs.
POTATO: Simply speaking, which song would you like to recommend to readers of POTATO?
D-LITE: “Powerful Boy”. The age of learning and chasing after your dreams starts at 10 years old. It is a period of time where you will do your utmost best for anything. Please work hard!
POTATO: Then, how were you like when you were at that age?
D-LITE: I was a trainee for a long period of time then I debuted at 18 years old. At that point of time, I can’t see my future so I was very uneasy. I didn’t rebel against anybody too. My parents… I was really very afraid of my dad (laugh). Playing music is the only thing I ever rebelled against my parents. I was very sad and lonely when my parents said no to it. But of course, they support me wholeheartedly right now. I really feel so lucky that I persevered on at that point of time. I think that rebelling at 10 years old is also fine! As long as you know what mistakes you made and you really reflect upon it sincerely and apologize, no matter what, there will be things that you did right! It does not matter even if you fail many times!
POTATO: In the album, there are quite a handful of love songs, it’s an album of a collection of love songs.
D-LITE: Songs are evidence of love to me. Thanks to Bigbang, staff members and fans who love me, I am able to sing. During the production of the album, Bigbang members also told me to work hard. Love is the most important asset to any human being. I once read a book and it said, “The poorest human on Earth are those without love in their hearts”, this means I am a rich person (laugh) although love can also be one-sided (tears). When I was in junior school, there was a girl I liked very long. During White Valentine’s Day, I prepared a gift but due to my lack of courage, I did not hand it over to her. In the end, I finished the present myself.. It was delicious (laugh).
POTATO: The motivation for your solo live?
D-LITE: To me, singing is the happiest and most important thing. It is something where everybody feels that it’s significant at some point of time. I have considered a lot of what I can do and what stage I want to do for my live. To let fans who come to my concert and myself enjoy the concert, I have been practicing hard every day.
