Analysis of Success
Gambit exploded onto the competitive gamingscene with their extremely aggressive playstyle. By pinpointing the weaknessesin the enemy jungle, Diamondprox was feared for his signature counterjungling.Back in Season Two, there was a lack of strong junglers. As shown with thetransition to Season 3, many of the older junglers (EG Snoopeh and TPA Lilballz), aren't as good as they used to be. With the adventof newer, more mechanically skilled junglers, Diamondprox's skills haven'twaned. In addition to their talented jungler, Gambit has good laners. Gambitvery rarely lose lane and if they do, they are probably winning in the globalobjectives. Gambit has always been a high pressure, fast team, but as theEuropean meta shifted more towards late game, so did Gambit. Gambit has donereasonably well in the Spring and Summer Splits of LCS finishing Second andThird respectively; however, they haven't been as dominant as they once were.Gambit is either in a rather long slump at the moment, or the rest of the worldhas them figured out.
Strategy
Gambit Gaming is known for their aggressiveearly focus on jungle objectives and for their "see hero, kill hero"playstyle. They would rely on superior teamfighting mechanics to build up alead during the midgame dragon fights to pull ahead during the later game. Theywould pick off one or two people and then force objectives. After repeatingthis process numerous times, they would eventually acquire enough advantage toeventually close out the game. Their success and playstyle is very similar to Cloud 9's domination of theNorth American LCS during the Season 3 North American League of LegendsChampionship Series Summer Split.
Weaknesses
A common weakness Gambit has is that they don'thave a gaming house. In addition to this, they spend 2-3 out of the 4 days theyhave to train, flying betwen the ESL Studio in Cologne and Russia. Thecombination of the two leads to very little practice time for the Russiansquad. Gambit's strength has primarily been in their LAN events due to theirpractice of intensive bootcamping before LAN events. This LAN strength did nottransfer over well to the EU LCS due to the lack of time to bootcamp as well asthe fatigue from travel. Another weakness from their bootcamping is that theyare susceptible to being cheesed. With their often outdated research/data andlack of a dedicated analyst, Gambit has to rely on rumors and hearsay on whatnew compositions/champions their competitors will utilize in the future.I
