When we get the chance to check out the talent from across the pond we can’t help but say yes! So today, lovely Boys by Girls readers, say “Hello” to Mr Ben Lark at DNA Models; all the way from New York City. Photographer Rebecca Naen went to the Big Apple and captured these beautiful portraits of this captivating boy. Instantly in awe of his energy, we already know we are going to love Ben. He gives us a taste of what other talent is out there beyond the borders of London, and what a fine example he is. Shot in a quiet New York hotel, Rebecca caught him on camera in a natural environment wearing his own clothes.
Ben's charming personality wowed us too and we are definitely keen to dig deeper into everything there is to know about this boy. He has a refreshing attitude about him, add to that his enchanting natural beauty. Plus he arrived to the shoot wearing his own pair of Batman underwear… yes, that happened. We might be in love.
His refreshing and warm sense of humour, makes Ben easy to fall in love with. Relatively new to the world of modelling he has already done presentations for Calvin Klein (SS13) and recently featured in the Uniqlo SS13 ad campaign. It looks as though Ben is definitely heading up a successful path at a very fast pace. We can’t wait to see what he has ahead of him. We are also excited to see more work from Rebecca gracing our Boys by Girls website. Yes.

First of all, where did you get your batman underwear from?
Well last year for Christmas, I jokingly told my mom I wanted Batman underwear, and being the jokester that she is she actually went and bought me a pair! You could say that they are now my lucky underwear.
Now serious, how are you enjoying modelling so far?
Modeling is a lot of fun! I love getting to meet all of the crazy, creative minds in the business.
Tell us a bit about how you went from playing Soccer to modelling?
In my senior year of high school I had an amazing season and was lucky enough to be offered some soccer scholarships. I signed to play soccer for a university and little did I know, my dad had some wild modelling plans in store for me instead. A couple of weeks before I graduated, my dad told me that he had submitted some pictures to modeling agencies and before I knew it, I was in NY and signed with DNA models.
You're from a small town, how are you finding New York compared to where you grew up?
The biggest difference is the amount of opportunities that are in NYC. You can move here and leave everything behind you, start a new life, and be whatever you desire to be.
What has the highlight of your modelling journey been so far?
The highlight of my modeling journey has to be the SS 13 Uniqlo campaign.
What's the craziest shoot you've done so far?
I did a shoot recently where it was supposed to look like i was jumping off of a roof. The photographer was below me and I had to jump from this really high platform and land on this non forgiving towel. I felt like a redneck Tom Cruise.
If you could shoot anywhere in the world, where would you be jetted off to?
Probably Antarctica, where I'm riding a polar bear in like an all white fur outfit. Oh, and it would be for Coca-cola.
What's your favourite thing to do in New York?
My favorite thing to do in the city has to be hanging out with cute girls.
If Boys by Girls came back to New York, where would you take us to eat awesome food?
For the beautiful women of Boys by Girls...I really dont know. This is a lot of pressure all at once. Let me know when you're coming and we can arrange something.
What's on the to do list for 2013?
Make lots of dollar bills, go to Europe, and grow closer to God.
Where do you want to be in 5 years time?
In 5 years time, I want to be living comfortably and feeling content on the path that I am making my way through.
If you could work with anyone who would it be?
Steven Meisel would be great to shoot with, and I would really like to do something for Burberry.
Any words of wisdom for your fans across the pond?
"From small acorns grow large oak trees". My mom told me that before I left the house and also gave me a tiny silver acorn to keep in my pocket. Every time I see it, it reminds me that even though I am a young, small town boy, I can still do great things and also have a big effect on the world around me.
