I need feminism because people feel sympathy for the guy who cyber bullied, verbally attacked, and harassed me for a date. When rejected, his violent, aggressive behavior was expressed through multiple text messages, attempting to lower my self esteem with derogatory slurs. Instead of questioning why it was okay for a person to behave this way, everyone told me, “he might be a nice guy, give him a chance, it would only be one date, etc.”

I need feminism because I requested a boy not wear his “cool story, babe, now make me a sandwich” t-shirt to school as I found it offensive and he insisted it was not sexist because the “babe” referred to his girlfriend, who apparently finds it amusing. He argued at me for five minutes that I had no point to make but didn’t actually let me say more than a word or two before interrupting. To top it off, I learned that both the principal and dean of students had been asked to look at the shirt and did not find it inappropriate at all.

I need feminism because when a well loved, male teacher was arrested for sexual battery against a female student, most of his other students were telling everyone to “place all the blame on [the victim]” so he wouldn’t “look bad.”
