TAGAJO, Miyagi -- An exhibition featuring a tea cup with a kiss mark and message from popular U.S. singer Lady Gaga, hoping for Japan's recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, opened at the Tohoku History Museum here on May 1 and will run through June 30.
Akihisa Yumi, a dentist in the city of Osaki in the prefecture, bought the cup at an auction. A day before passing away from illness, he donated it to the prefecture, saying, "I want many people to see it, and for you to pass on the memories of the disaster to future generations."
Iroha Toshima, 15, from Ishinomaki Commercial High School, saw the cup during a visit with her school and said "It moved me that Lady Gaga worked to help with the disaster recovery."
