Chapter 3 Called
当他进入病房的时候，他觉得像极了是有人在向后拖着他脚下地毯，每一步都那么艰难。这么多年来他已经了解了马修，他从来没有见过他如此憔悴。虽然他有一次在曲棍球比赛后脚踝骨折过，也有过受伤需要往眉毛上缝几针的时候，但至少那些时候马修都清醒着甚至跟他开些玩笑。
这和以前哪些情况太不同了，马修如今手臂上插满了各种各样的连着管子，头上也缠着纱布。基尔伯特显然也不喜欢他现在过慢的呼吸速度，这并不是他正常的样子。
他面前的人心脏跳一下的时间足够他向前走三步。他坐在了病床旁边的金属椅子上，在坐下之前，他的手紧紧抓着另外那位男人的手。基尔伯特注意到那并不是平时那样的温暖，这让他的心更紧张了。他安静了一会，然后为他所做的一切道歉。
“这是我的错，阿修【Matt。。好难辨别用啥昵称】，对不起，我不应该带你去湖边的，我不应该的。。。求你了，快醒过来吧，liebling（亲爱的），拜托了，再多呼吸些，阿修，醒过来啊，你要是不原谅我的话我会内疚一辈子的。快点，亲爱的，求你，别就这样让他们带走你，想想你的兄弟，想想我们。拜托了，阿修，只要你能再次睁开双眼就好了。”他不停地道着歉，他甚至不知道他是什么时候开始这一过程的，但眼泪就已经从他的眼里喷涌而出，滴落在了马修被他握住的手上。
基尔伯特继续轻声呜咽着，对那年轻的男人认错，就这样持续了一晚上直到他的头靠在马修瘫软的手边睡着。

第二天早上，他醒来的时候，他觉得自己的脖子和背部从来没有这么难受过。就在一瞬间，他意识到自己可能错过了学习和工作的时间。他抬起头看到眼前的手臂上插着的管子少了一些。前一天发生的事又在他的眼前重现。他颤抖着吸了一口气，然后站起来伸了个懒腰，背部依旧疼着.【←这句也是不太清楚意思对不对】那么他现在该做些什么呢?
他意识到他还没有给亚瑟或是阿尔弗雷德这两位直系亲属打过电话，他们有必要知道这件事。基尔伯特完全不擅长告诉别人坏消息，何况他并不希望他们知道马修是因为他的错而住院这件事。当护士进来为马修做检查时，他决定先原谅了自己一会【←不太能理解什么意思】去了前台。他必须打电话给他们，可当电话在手里时，他又迷茫起来，需要一些时间积攒勇气才敢按下电话号码。电话在被接前响了两次。
“喂？”
“我想和你谈谈。”基尔伯特简单的告诉他，直截了当切入主题。
“基尔伯特？为什么你要从医院打电话过来？你做了些什么？”
“是这样的，谢谢你直接认为是我做了些什么。”之后两边都猛然地停顿了一下。
“是你吧？”之后又是另一段沉默。
“基尔伯特，你在对我隐瞒着什么？”
“马修正在医院里。”这次是亚瑟陷入沉默。
“什么？”
“你也听到我说了什么。”
“你到底做了什么？”
“你是说我伤害了他吗？你应该知道我绝对不会做这样的事！”
“所以到底发生了什么？”亚瑟迫切的想知道。
“等你来这里以后我会当面对你说。是你给阿尔弗雷德打电话还是我来？”
“我会让他知道的。你必须给我清清楚楚解释到底发生了什么，贝什米特，我希望等我到了那儿可以得到些答案。”基尔伯特总结了他们的对话，觉得自己可以挂了，接着有回到了马修的房间。他真希望回去的时候他的恋人就已经醒了，可惜的是这位年轻男人依旧在昏迷之中，基尔伯特坐下来，然后拉着马修的手充满爱意的轻吻了一下。他对将要发生的事没有抱着任何期待。


不知什么原因，亚瑟和他除了在吧台拼酒以外性格完全不合。从他们第一天见面起，这位年长的男人总是对他抱着怀疑的态度，并且劝他的兄弟不要袒护基尔伯特。幸运的是，马修不但没有听从亚瑟的警告，反而和他更加亲近了。基尔伯特依旧不知道马修是如何让他的哥哥同意他搬出去和自己一起住的。但他并不想抱怨这些。【←都快分不清这是谁了
等其他人来的时间并不长，打完电话的10分钟后，亚瑟，弗朗西斯，阿尔弗雷德都冲进了病房。他们又猛地像死了一般停了下来，在看到马修依旧躺在病床上一动不动的时候。
“他死了吗？”阿尔弗雷德打破了这份沉寂。
“我觉得如果他真的死了我肯定会更早些告诉你。”基尔伯特冷静的回答道。
“发生了什么？你到底对我亲爱的弟弟做了什么？”亚瑟还是说话了。弗朗西斯把手放在了他另一只手臂上才冷静了一些。基尔伯特接着准备叙述昨天发生的事。他并没有说他本想向马修求婚的事，这是他自己的秘密。他向他们转述了医生说的话，当亚瑟听到马修已经陷入昏迷时，他觉得他已经无法冷静了【lost it for good真心理解不能求教导】
“你这个混蛋！我就知道我不该相信你的！我知道你只会给他添麻烦而已！我都警告过他了，他就是不听我的！他说你是个很棒的男人！胡说八道！看看你都对我家人做了些什么！我会让你付出代价的！”亚瑟扑向面前这位年轻男人。多亏弗朗西斯及时阻止了他。
“Mon cher（亲爱的），冷静一下，这不是他的错。S'il te plait（请别这样），亚瑟，别做些愚蠢的事。这只是一场意外，基尔伯特也没有去推马修或是做些其他的事。一切都会好起来的，我的甜心，缓口气。”弗朗西斯把亚瑟拉进怀里，轻抚着他的背。最开始的时候，这个矮些的男人还打算推开他，但是过了一小会儿，他就紧紧抓着弗朗西斯的衬衫泣不成声。基尔伯特对于他接下来该做的事完全没有头绪。
