真嗣在与父亲为母亲扫墓后，他和葛城美里一道乘车返回家中。途经相模湾海域时，两人遭遇了正与第2方面军交战的第7使徒。随即零号机通过64号线出击，同时美里也立即发令「以零号机优先，马上执行TASK 03」，却被日向告知TASK 02已经执行。（此时美里的车载导航地图转而显示了TASK 02的计划书封面。）在看到NERV EU直属大重量货物输送机、及其所运载的二号机出击后，美里自语道「TASK 02？难道是……果然是二号机」。
（顺带一提，在与第7使徒的交战结束后，台词也提及「德国政（冗余）府的独立调查班现已抵达，在总部待命中」，这也许暗示新剧场版中的第3支部位于德国？）

仔细阅读后可以确认，正片中给出的TASK 02确实只是封面，其中甚至连二号机将参与作战都没有提到。而从剧中美里的台词看，二号机参战几乎是这份计划书的核心内容。

然而，在2010年发售的《ヱヴァンゲリヲン新剧场版:破 全记录全集》一书中，官方终于给出了「TASK 02」计划书的里设定。让人惊讶的是，书中给出的计划书内容要比正片中出现的多出一倍。

回过头来再看TASK 02全文，会发现完整版的TASK 02确实明确提到了EVA二号机将参与使徒歼灭战的信息。

TASK 02中的彩蛋——General James Henderson
TASK 02的发令画面明确指出，此条法令是由NERV第3支部最高司令官General James Henderson（即James Henderson将军）发布的。但James Henderson是谁？这个司令官的名字此前从未在EVA中出现过，为何会悄悄隐藏在TASK 02中？
有人猜想，此处是庵野秀明对1970年的一部英国科幻电视剧《UFO》的致敬。James Henderson将军正是出自《UFO》剧中的一位角色。

前期宣传与后期周边中的TASK 02
早在《EVA：破》上映前，TASK 02就作为影片的一个宣传卖点出现在在红色朝霞版海报中。虽然在正片中TASK 02和第7使徒的出现时间很短，只算得上是二号机登场刷时髦值的工具而已。
