Gypsy Passion
吉普赛小提琴家赛吉屈凡纳Sergei Trofanov:

Born in Moldova (ex-USSR) Sergeï Trofanov grew up in a village bordering the tsigane quarters.
At the age of 5, it is with the tsigane people that he will be introduced to the violin.
A few years later he pursues his passion by enrolling in music school and taking up classical music studies. Alongside his close circle of tsigane friends and colleagues, a ten-year old Serge• gives his first performances, local celebrations, marriages and private parties are amongst his earliest audiences.
His considerable experience coupled with his remarkable skills as a performer paved the way to the Conservatory of Kishinev, capital city of Moldova. Later, at 23, the compulsory military service of his country would lead him to one of the Red Army's orchestras, where he took place as violinist. Then, his real career took off. On many occasions, Sergeï would be invited to join various orchestras called upon to perform at national celebrations and major events. He sometimes played with internationally renowned musicians. At this point of his artistic life, he made many television and radio appearances, as well as musical recordings and video productions. Before coming to Canada, he toured extensively, stopping over in destinations such as England, Italy, Cuba, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Madagascar, and Mauritius.
Since his arrival in Montreal in 1991, Sergeï has enjoyed an international career. In 1994, along with Anatoli Iakovenko, a guitarist and singer, and Claude Simard, a bassist and percussionist who also is equally a producer, Sergeï started up the group Djelem. Djelem's rise to success is rapid, the group has become quite popular in Canada, the US, as well as Japan and Europe. To it's credit Djelem's has 3 CDs and 2 video-clips. Besides his participation in Djelem, Sergeï is also pursuing a solo career and in October 1999 he launches his first recording as a solo artist entitled Gypsy Passion and in 2000, he launches Gypsy Passion II - Romance.
