Ex-Cranberries star Noel on going solo
THE rock star behind one of Ireland"s biggest selling bands says he doubts if they"ll ever reform.
The Cranberries sold an incredible 38MILLION albums and played to millions of fans around the world.
However, two years ago the band decided to take a break and pursue other projects.
Guitarist and songwriter Noel Hogan told the Irish People yesterday that the group have no plans to reform. He added: "We decided just to leave it loose and it"s still the same way.
"We haven"t talked about it at all and there are certainly no plans to give it another go or get back together again."
Limerick-born Noel, the writer behind the band"s smash-hit songs Linger and Dreams, said he wasn"t into the idea of becoming a rock star again. "The way it was with The Cranberries was that the three lads just got on with it and let Dolores [O"Riordan] do the rock "n" roll thing. She was the public image of the band and that"s the way we preferred it."
Millionaire Noel still lives in Limerick and is about to launch his new project.
Mono Band is the group Noel "always wanted to do" but was too busy churning out hits with The Cranberries.
"I was always into computers and wanted to work with them to make music instead of just using guitars and traditional instruments.
"I"d always been tinkering away at home creating new sounds and Mono Band came from that." Their work, including the single Waves, will be available on their debut album which is out on May 20.
Noel will be busy promoting his new band but has no plans to move away from Limerick. He said: "It"s a vibrant place to live and it has so much going for it."
Mono Band play the Oxygen Festival this summer.
