The so-called economic value added, referring to a measure of the basic scale of capital profitability, operating income is subtracted from the tax amount, minus capital costs, leaving only added economic value. Adopt this principle, the operator can know their true cost of the capital, operating and occupying much capital, particularly in the understanding of their business tied up in how much capital.

                1. every business needs capital to survive, but you can't put too much money into capital because you need cash-flow in business. Capital is the body of a business and cash-flow is the blood of a business. If there is no body the business does not live and if there is no cash-flow the body doesn't operate.
                2. with the understanding of the above, we take away the cash-flow away from the total cost and take away the capital expense (the amount of money you spent building the business, like buying the business and improving the business, NOT every-day expenses like stock purchases, wages, tax, bills, advertising etc etc) to work out the value-added part

Hmmm ... EVA seems to be a corporate finance concept. The problem is about estimating "capital costs" (i.e. cost of debt & cost of equity) and not "capital expenditure".
