Christmas time


Hello Fans!
I practiced a lot the last couple of days and weeks. I am really looking forward to the "down under" tour. Before that I will fly with my whole team to Dubai on the 11th of December. It is great to prepare there. There are more than 30 degrees now and it is pretty similar to Australia.
It will be the first time being seeded in Melbourne so I won't play a seeded player in the first round.
You can also find all the other tournaments which I will be playing at the beginning of the year under the category "tournament calendar".
I already found some nice presents for my family for Christmas. But i don't have them all yet so I will probably go to the "Christmas-Market" to find some more and maybe also something for myself;-)

Interview with Julia’s Trainer Björn Jacob
“We are working step by step – and want to be world-class”
How did trainer Björn Jacob and player Julia Görges come to work together?
Björn: In March 2007, Julia had a DTB training course in Kamen, where I was working as trainer of the tennis association in Westphalia. She asked me a little later if I might be able to go with her to a few tournaments, as she had just parted ways with Axel Pretzsch. We were together in Budapest, Warsaw and Antalya and during the weeks in between we trained in Kamen.
How long had you known Julia for?
Björn: Because I had been the tennis association trainer since 2003, I knew that there was a young female tennis player called Görges. That we got to know each other at a particular point in time in 2007, when she needed a new trainer, was coincidence, and one could also say fate. The moment suited us both. I am very certain that we will make great progress.
Why do you believe in Julia?
Björn: She’s a good kid with her own head and is always ready to incorporate new things and implement them. She has great potential technique-wise and good, strong shots. She plays quickly and develops her skills even under pressure. She should hang on to her independence because she has to make decisions on court even if there’s no coach there to lend her support. I have to make sure that she feels comfortable. For if she feels uneasy it’ll become difficult for her.
In 2007, Jule climbed 300 places in the world rankings to 122. Is her trainer content with the achievements of their first year together?
Björn: A definite YES. She has improved in all areas. And I am ready to do everything within my powers to help her. I’m committed to Julia, completely. But we don’t talk much about huge aims. Dollars and points come naturally if you work gradually and always keep setting small goals in stages. In the long term – and I don’t want to talk around the subject at all – I want to bring Julia to world-class standard.
