这里 Annûn 和 Amrûn 都不是单音节字汇，但托老此处特别提出来，或许是指两者因为 dûn和 rhûn 的影响而保留抑扬音符 ^，而非指此处的 û 为重音处？

大致是说 Annûn 的形成顺序若为
*ndûnê > *andûnê > *andûn
> annûn (prothetic > apocope > stress-retraction)，则重音仍应在第一音节。若顺序为 *ndûnê > *ndûn > *andûn > annûn，则重音会维持在后。两者差别在於前者过程子音母音化 (prothetic) 先发生，故会提前重音位置；而后者尾母音省略 (apocope) 先发生，所以 stress-retraction 不会 (或还没) 发生。
David Salo 又提出 HoME III 中的 THE LAY OF LEITHIAN RECOMMENCED 此章节的句子为例:
"Ir Ithil ammen Eruchin
menel-vir sila diriel
si loth a galadh lasto din!
A Hir Annun gilthoniel,
le linnon im Tinuviel!"
若此诗歌的重音有规律，那麼 Annûn 的重音在后就有迹可循了。

恐怕A Hîr Annûn gilthoniel是现在最直接的证据了，这歌的节奏和A Elbereth理应是完全一样的。
