Former world number one Dinara Safina has retired from tennis, according toher brother Marat Safin.Safina, 25, topped the WTA rankings as recently as two years ago butdebilitating back injuries have kept her out of action this season and shehad been on an indefinite break."Dinara has decided to end her career," Safin - himself a former Grand Slamwinner who retired last season - said. "She has taken the decisionrelatively well.“She considers it just to be the end of a period in her life.
"Everything is all right with her health. She feels good in everyday life,but (the back injury means) she simply can't play tennis professionally anymore."
