第一篇：“Watson” turns to medicine

A couple of months ago, Watson, a supercomputer designed by IBM, won against human players on the U.S. game show jeopardy!(《危险边缘》)。 Now, Watson is getting ready for its next big challenge—helping doctors treat patients.
Watson is able to understand human language. With this ability, it can listen to patients’symptoms, read medical textbooks and even get information from patients’blogs to help treat the person more quickly. In this way , Watson can suggest proper treatment as a second opinion to the doctor.
On jeopardy! Watson gave one answer to each question and rated its confidence in the answer .For medical use, Watson offers several possible treatments and puts them in order according to its confidence.姐
“In medicine we don’t want one answer. We want a list of choices,” a doctor said. “As you know. If a person has a 95 per cent chance of having disease X, there’s still possibility that they have something else. We often forget it. But Watson won’t.”
Now, Watson is training to be used as a bedside medical tool. Although it isn’t yet ready to replace doctors, it now becomes a great help to medical care with all the medical information that is now out there.
