Contrary to common opinion in later ages, Feanor was not the only child without mother in the Blessed Realm. Many elves died in the dark ages or during the long road westwards, but in the lights their kin learnt to find comfort from others' shared fate.
For only once, Finwe had suggested his son to join their society. But Feanor replied:
'If you believe in this solution, you would have been there with me many times. Yet you desired no mere commiseration, but redress. Now that you have found it, should not I, being your true son, take joy in the same thing as my own? If I do not, should I, like a baser elf, drain an inferior cup rejected by the high lord?'
