I wanted to reply to your reply when you were saying how what really won you over was the tender relationship between Rembrandt and Saskia, which was probably only due to the actors being amazing because Peter Greenaway probably didn’t write that in. I just love the scene, “This is me with Saskia,” which is so precious at the time, but then the next two “This is me with ____” scenes with the two other women makes it so painful because you can see that he’s clearly miserable with them because neither of them are Saskia. (and oh god when he realizes that she’s dead, and there’s like a split second where he pauses, and it see***ike he’s on the verge of deciding whether to accept it or not. and then he goes ahead and tries not to, but that fails and it all goes to shit and ok here I go, ALL ABOUT THE REMBRANDT/SASKIA TRAIN, STOP ME!)
