虚拟语气
1.     表示一种纯然假想的情况或主观愿望时，动词需用一种特殊的形式，即为虚拟语气。最常在条件句中使用：
1）     真实条件句，条件是可能实现的：If I have time I’ll come over to see you.
2）     虚拟条件句，条件（相对现有实际）为纯然假想的：If I had enough money, I would buy a computer.

*should/could/might/would各自的意思：
should：应该，用来表示义务或职责；用于表示可能性或期望；用于表示可能性或可能发生的事件；用于使一个直接或直率的陈述变得婉转：
could：用来表示过去的能力、可能性或允许；用来表推测或条件；用于表示试探性或礼貌
might：可能：用来表示一种与事实相反的情况或状态；可能：用于表示一种可行性或可能性，比may 的语气弱；能够，会：用于表示过去时中的可能性或许可性；可以：用于表示较为恭敬或礼貌，较may，ought 或 should 委婉。
would：用于表愿望、请求或建议的陈述之后；用于有礼貌的请求；表示不确定之意。
例句：
If I had a map, I would lend it to you.
If I were you, I would plant some trees around the house.
If I had known that you were coming, I would have met you at the airport.
If anything had happened, he would have informed us.
If he were to resign, who would take his place?
If I should do the job next year, I would do it in a different way.
2）虚拟条件句中的倒装：省略if，were/had/should提前：
Were I Tom, I would refuse.
Should you require anything, just call me.
Hadn’t it been for your timely help, we would have got into serious trouble.
3）     错综时间条件句：主从句谓语表示的动作在时间上不一致。
If the weather had been more favorable, the crops would be growing still better.
If you had taken her advice, you wouldn’t be in such trouble now.
If he were leaving, you would have heard about it.
I would have written to you before but I have been ill.


3.     宾语从句中的虚拟语气
1）     wish引导的宾语从句：
I wish I could help you. 但愿我能帮你。(但我不能)
I wish I had listened to your advice.
2）     would rather
“Do you mind if I smoke here?” “I’d rather you didn’t.”
I’d rather you hadn’t told me about it.
3）     Suggest/demand/insist/ask/advise/propose/vote/command/desire/order等动词后，可省略should.
He suggested that a petition (should) be drawn up.
She demanded that I pay her immediately.
He insisted that Jennie send her to dancing school.
He asks that he be given an opportunity to explain his case.
I advise that he go at once.
I propose that Mr. Black be the chairman.
4.     主语、表语从句中的虚拟语气
It is important/vital/appropriate/imperative/essential that one (should) do sth.
Our decision is that the school remain closed.
Their requirement is that every member attend the meeting.
5.     状语从句中的虚拟语气as if/though
I have loved you as if you were my own son.
He looks as though he had known Millie for years
6.     某些句型中的虚拟语气: It’s (high) time, 其后虚拟语气多用过去式
It’s time we went.
It’s time we ordered dinner.
